FUE Hair Transplantation
FUE (Follicular Unit Excision, formally Follicular Unit Extraction) is a hair restoration procedure where individual follicular units are removed from the back of the scalp (donor area) and transplanted to areas of hair loss (recipient area).
After each follicular unit is meticulously extracted, they are placed in a sterile saline solution to keep them well preserved. Sometimes, further dissection is needed of the follicular units but mostly they are ready for implantation into the recipient sites.
This procedure is an outpatient procedure, done under local anesthesia, right at our office. With the procedure being very tedious and intricate, it can take anywhere from 8-12 hours to complete.
